Value of the Mentality

You’ve probably seen some of my #dosomethingthatsucks posts and stories.  It’s more than just tortuous workouts, this has real value both in and out of the gym.  Each time I try to push my limits and just about each time I inevitably try to convince myself to edit the workout, cut it short, or even quit.  My goal is to always work through that, and come out stronger on the other side both physically but especially mentally.  Now, when I encounter those hard times, I have the experience behind me to tell myself, “you’ve felt this before, you’ve been here before, you’ll get through this again”. That’s the true value, pushing through the hard moments when you don’t think you can.  This mentality can be transferred to any aspect of your life.  Whether it’s in the gym, in the pool, in the classroom, or in the office, the more you do the things that no one wants to do or the things you didn’t think you could do, the more you’ll find strength and success.
